Such a wonderful company. The float was amazing and they had wonderful service.
clear water, friendly staff, nice river that moves pretty good, 6 miles took 6 hrs with many stops, their 4 man raft is pretty small, go with 6 man. very basic place. Crowd (people) here was family friendly, would not say that for like the meramec river area in steelville, mo. fyi...at the end you have to cross (walk) the river and walk 100 yds to your car. not bad, no cell phone service or very little here. enjoy!
If you own your own kyack or canoe Jeff's is not cost friendly. We had 11 kyacks and the only way we could get on the water was to pay them 20.00 per kyack (220.00 dollars). They own the only access points in the area and would not let us pay them to park a vehicle at the put in area. They told us the only way we would float was to pay them 20.00 per boat and they would put is in. This was on a Wednesday morning, no other floaters or business except us. A reasonable parking fee would have been the easiest money they made that day and they hardest thing they had to do was put some cash in the drawer. The takey away is they are discouraging people from buying their own knacks or canoes. We left the area and went to Bass canoe rental who was very accommodating and charged a reasonable parking fee at the acess. We relayed the info from Jeff's and the folks at Bass just said it was bad business.
My choice for floating the Black River, excellent section to float, no other float service provides access to this section of The Black. Deeper than other sections of the Black. Less dragging the canoe, raft or kayak. They offer an 11 and a 6 mile float. Be prompt or they will leave you but will try to accommodate you on another float.
Was told our pick up time was 8:30 for an 11 mile float. We got there at 8:04 and were told that we were 4 minutes late and missed out bus and would be put on another. They put us on the 6 mile float without telling us and when we finally found out and asked about it, they became annoyed and said it was the same price so it wouldn't matter. When we got to the drop off location they didn't have our boats so we had to wait in the hot sun for an hour for them to drive up to the 11 mile drop off to pick them up and drive back to the 6 (why they wouldn't take us to the 11 mile is beyond me). During the time they had to ask us again what kind and how many boats we had since they didn't have a record. One person in our group was double charged for the float as well. Organization and customer service was awful. Will never be using again and would never recommend.
